"Tennessee History for Kids" to include Dutchman's Curve

By Betsy Thorpe

The number one online historical resource for Tennessee students and their teachers, Tennessee History for Kids will soon include information on Dutchman's Curve. Presenting the story of the 1918 rail disaster to Tennessee students was an early goal of the Dutchman's Curve Project.

Tennessee History for Kids, founded by Nashville writer Bill Carey is an important resource for students, homeschoolers and educators. History books are not provided in most Tennessee schools. Mr. Carey "History Bill" fills that void by providing a user-friendly history site with sections designed for grade levels one through twelve. Walter Durham, Tennessee State Historian endorsed the website saying "This is a new idea for new times." Gower elementary school teacher Beverly Kelly praised the site saying "at Gower it was used often".

Tennessee History for Kids is a non-profit organization. To find out how to make a tax-deductible donation or to browse this interesting website visit: tnhistoryforkids.org.
